ALBION — A violent inmate-on-inmate attack at the State Correctional Institution at Albion has left one man hospitalized in critical condition at an Erie hospital, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Girard.

Job Knighton, 33, “is in critical but stable condition” for injuries he received after being stabbed, slammed to the floor and then kicked by another inmate at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release issued Wednesday afternoon by state police. A nursing supervisor at UPMC Hamot in Erie said no information about Knighton’s condition was being released.

According to police, Knighton and the other inmate, a 25-year-old man, were in a verbal argument that became physical with Knighton was stabbed in the left cheek with a plastic pen. After stabbing Knighton, the suspect then picked up Knighton, slammed him to the floor “and stomped on the victim’s head,” police said.
