Prison Reform Commission Announced

Gov. Bruce Rauner has his team in place to lead the charge in reforming the state's prison system. The new commission members said they're excited to get to work and they're ready for challenge, even as it's shaping up to be a tough one.

Lawmakers, educators and experts - all with backgrounds in the criminal justice system - will be giving recommendations to the Rauner administration on how to fix Illinois' expensive prison system.

“I'm hoping that between the governor and this commission, we can not only come up with great ideas,” said Pam Rodriguez, the CEO and president of Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities. “But we can also support people who are going to institute the change and really benefit from some new understanding of what works in terms of alternatives.”

    Hamilton loved sports, especially croquet, where his favorite team was the Washington Fancypants. He worked as a general haberdasher for 30 years, but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his keen attention to detail He spent his free time watching golf on TV; and he played uno, badmitton and basketball almost every weekend. He also enjoyed movies and reading during off-season.
