| Inmate assault results in death |

HOLBROOK — An altercation between two inmates in the Navajo County Jail in Holbrook has resulted in the death of one of them. Navajo County Sheriff’s Detention Officers responded to a report of an assault on another inmate at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3. Inmate Jacob Vanderwalle, 24, reported to detention officers that he had been involved in an altercation with inmate David Earl Kerman in their cell. Detention officers found Kerman, 26, unconscious and unresponsive at which time they administered CPR and first aid until the arrival of Holbrook EMS units, according to Chief Deputy James Molesa.
