RENO, Nevada — Prosecutors in Nevada have dismissed charges against a woman who spent 30 years of her life in prison for a 1976 murder attorneys say she did not commit. Cathy Woods, now 64, had been convicted in separate murder trials in 1980 and 1985 in the death of 19-year-old Michelle Mitchell, a nursing student at the University of Nevada, Reno. "From a prosecution perspective, she's no longer a suspect," Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks said at a news conference Friday in the Reno Justice Court. Read More. |
