FARMERVILLE, Louisiana — A state Department of Corrections inmate being held at the Union Parish Detention Center is facing three counts of battery of a correctional center employee after throwing urine on three guards. The sheriff's office says 39-year-old Joseph D. McLaughlin was booked last week. Sheriff Dusty Gates tells KNOE-TV McLaughlin was put in a holding cell after being caught taking food out of the kitchen where he worked. The guards reported he was upset and began fighting them.
