| ACI vows to 'fix' inmate release process |

CRANSTON, R.I. - After mistakenly releasing a prisoner a year before he was supposed to be set free, an ACI spokeswoman said the incident is still under investigation. But, the prison has owned up to the flub. Officials are looking into ways to prevent similar situations from taking place again. "We released him. [It was] our error,” said spokeswoman, Susan Lamkins. “We take ownership of that. If it's a process problem, we'll fix the process [and] make it better. If it was an individual error, we'll take care of that, too." Lamkins said Allan Ferreira, 46, appeared in court earlier in the day Friday. When he returned to the ACI, it was overlooked that he still had a one-year sentence he was serving for violating a no contact order.
