| States Scramble For Execution Drug, But Not Georgia |

Several states around the country that have the death penalty are having trouble getting enough lethal injection drugs and are looking at alternatives. But in Georgia, the Department of Corrections said in a statement that it didn’t anticipate any issues in obtaining the necessary drugs. Other states have been considering other options. Utah lawmakers recently voted to bring back using firing squads as an option if the drugs used in lethal injection are unavailable. Oklahoma is considering a gas chamber, and Tennessee recently brought back the electric chair. Texas is expected to use its last dose of pentobarbital – the same drug used in Georgia’s executions – in an execution next week. Read More. |
