A Brooklyn federal judge declined to order the city Department of Correction to give medical tests to 19 Rikers Island inmates who claim they were served rat poison laced meatloaf during a lockdown of their housing unit earlier this month, papers state. The group alleged that they fell violently ill after ingesting the dish and found suspicious bluish green pellets embedded inside the prison staple. The incident happened on March 3 – just days after the attempted rape of a security guard. Judge Roslynn Mauskopf tossed their request to have blood and urine tests to see what caused the discomfort.
