| City delays installation of cameras at Rikers |

The de Blasio administration has pushed back its timeline to intstall cameras throughout the Rikers Island jail complex, according to administration officials. The mayor announced the new video surveillance system during a November 2014 press conference, with plans to install the cameras within 18 months. Last week, when the mayor held a press conference to announce additional reforms, the accompanying press release stated the cameras would not be installed until February 2018. Read More. |
