| County officials look at work at sheriff’s office |

OSWEGO — The Labette County Commission on Monday toured sheriff’s office improvements. The emergency dispatch center had renovations made last year and the sheriff’s offices are being renovated now. New tile is in place in the offices and the walls have been painted. Drop ceiling tiles need to be placed in some areas yet and office furniture moved in. Sheriff Robert Sims told commissioners that the porcelain tile may be one of the most expensive pieces of the project. Commission Chairman Fred Vail told commissioners Monday he had approved a check for Samuel Havens of Pittsburg for $5,780 out of the normal schedule for checks. The timing of the check is related to a request from Havens; if he could be paid sooner than the end of the month he would give the county a break on his price.
