The Federal Bureau of Prisons wants to build a residential facility in North County that would help soon-to-be released federal prison inmates transition back into society. Government contractors have contacted at least two local cities asking about possible locations for a so-called re-entry center that would house an unknown number of prisoners, city officials said. A spokesman for the U.S. Department of Corrections did not return phone calls last week, nor did contractors who might build or operate the site. Read More. |
