| Fire at N.J. Department of Corrections halfway house in Trenton forces 40 to evacuate |

TRENTON -- A fire at a three-story state Department of Corrections halfway house in Trenton late Wednesday forced the evacuation of 40 people, though no injuries were reported, officials said. The 11:35 p.m. blaze on the first block of North Clinton Avenue started in the rear of the building in a single-story addition to the main halfway house building. Firefighters, led by Chief Ronald Kozstyu, fought the blaze for nearly 30 minutes before it was under control, Battalion Chief Robert Tharp said. It was not immediately known if the residents were allowed to return to the building, Tharp said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it does not appear to be suspicious, Tharp said.
