Inmate seeks compensation for time in county prison

Ever since he allegedly exposed himself at the Luzerne County Adult Probation and Parole Department, Kentlin Hopkins has been sitting in jail.

Now he wants to be paid $150 a day for his time.

Hopkins, 44, this week filed a lawsuit against the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office as well as the Luzerne County Correctional Facility seeking the nearly $55,000 salary retroactive to his arrest on Nov. 10, claiming prosecutors have put his life in danger.

According to the lawsuit, Hopkins of Wilkes-Barre recently learned that prosecutors gave shooting suspects Trevor Forest Whitaker, 27, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jamal Alford, 25, of Pittston, paperwork indicating Hopkins gave a statement against them and that he is a possible witness to the crime.
