Lauderdale County authorities are searching for a prisoner reportedly released by accident. However, there are conflicting stories of how he was set free. Michael Stacey PraterMichael Stacey Prater (Contributed by the Lauderdale County Detention Center) Michael Stacey Prater, 28, was serving time in state prison on child abuse charges when he was charged with escape last February. Court records show he was sentenced to 15 years back in the state prison for the resulting escape conviction. AL.com's news partner, WHNT News 19, reports Prater was transferred to the Lauderdale County Detention Center last week to receive this sentence. They report the Alabama Department of Corrections mistakenly sent paperwork to the jail on Wednesday ordering Prater to be released on probation. Read More. |
