| Investigation into inmate who suffered heart attack shows Cass County staff gave adequate care |

FARGO – A state investigation has found that nurses and doctors at the Cass County Jail gave appropriate medical treatment to an inmate who said she suffered heart damage because of poor care while behind bars. The North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation released its investigation report Thursday, saying the jail’s treatment of inmate Jenny Halldorson did not violate any laws or policies. Jail officers “let the medical professionals make good medical decisions, and because of that, this young lady was afforded the care that was needed,” said Steven Engen, the DOCR’s director of staff development and facility inspection.
