He had a long rap sheet that dated back more than 20 years and included convictions in three states. He struggled with drug abuse and at one point got a tattoo on his forehead that read "skinhead." Ryan Giroux's probation officer said the ex-con was trying to quit using drugs and turn his life around, but it didn't last long. Police say he got in a fight at a low-budget motel that was the catalyst for a rampage that killed one person and wounded five others at multiple locations. The 41-year-old — his face still bruised after tussling with police during his arrest — made his initial court appearance Thursday as authorities released the identities of the shooting victims and searched for more information about what happened at the motel. The judge read off a list of charges including murder and attempted murder and set bond at $2 million. Giroux said nothing other than providing his name and birthdate. Read More. |
