COUDERSPORT — Roy Hunt is seeking the Republican nomination for sheriff of Potter County. In 2002, Hunt was hired by sheriff Ken Sauley as a corrections officer at the Potter County Jail. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State Department of Corrections in 2004 and continues to serve as a full-time corrections officer, being charged with care, custody and control of inmates. In 2005, his fellow employees appointed Hunt to assist with contract negotiations and he has held either assistant or lead steward since then. These duties include helping to resolve disputes and contract negotiations. In August of 2006, Hunt became the instructor for tactical O/C Spray (including use of force). He also has been the scheduling officer, and the officer in charge. In 2002, he was appointed constable, was elected against in 2004 and served until 2010. Read More. |
