| Convicted LeFlore County Murderer Dies Of Cancer |

A LeFlore County man sentenced to life in prison without parole last year in the 2009 shooting death of his former brother-in-law has died, according to Oklahoma Department of Corrections officials. Raymond “Larry” Nichols, 62, of Cameron died Saturday at Lindsay Municipal Hospital, a medical facility used by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections in the town of Lindsay, Okla., according to Terri Watkins, the department’s director of communications. Watkins said the probable cause of death was lung cancer. Nichols was sentenced to life in prison without parole on July 10. Nichols, who maintained his innocence throughout his trial, was convicted of killing Donald “Joe” Neff, 61, on May 14, 2009, at Neff’s bar outside Poteau. Neff was shot once in the back of the head.
