| Lehigh County Jail inmate kills himself in cell |

A 40-year-old Lehigh County Jail inmate hung himself in his cell with a bed sheet, a prison official said. Joseph Skolburg, of Florida, was found dead in his cell at about 6:45 a.m. Saturday, Lehigh county Department of Corrections Director Ed Sweeney said in a news release. Skolburg did not have a cellmate and was not under any special monitoring precautions, the release states. Skolburg was found during routine rounds, leading a corrections officer to declare a medical emergency and begin administering CPR, Sweeney said. On site medical personnel also responded and assisted the officer, including using an automated external defibrillator to try to revive Skolburg. Read More. |
