| State to receive juvenile justice grant funding |

A week after Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin signed legislation aimed at reforming the state’s juvenile justice system, West Virginia will receive funding for training and technical assistance from the new Center for Coordinated Assistance to States. West Virginia is one of only five applicants to receive the inaugural round of funding, which focuses on helping the different programs and agencies working with at-risk youth to collaborate effectively. The Multi-System Collaboration Training and Technical Assistance includes webinars, teleconference discussions and mentoring services. State agencies such as the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety, Bureau for Children and Families, Department of Health and Human Resources, the Department of Education’s Office of Institutional Education Programs, the Supreme Court’s Juvenile Justice Commission and behavioral health company PSIMED Corrections will split the funding and were notified of the award in late March.
