| Commissioners Tour Improvements in Ward County Jail |

After an audit and order of non-compliance from the state, the Ward County Sheriff's Department had to make improvements inside the jail and start new training programs for its deputies. Tuesday, the sheriff's department gave a couple members of the county board a tour of the improvements in the jail. The department is making several changes and additions to the jail, from new personnel, to new benches for the inmates. "The jail commander needs to command the jail, and that's why we've added the personnel that you already agreed to that's going to sit on the other side of the wall at that vacant desk," said Capt. Bob Barnard. "They're going to do the daily paperwork for the jail, allowing the jail commander to do that. We want someone to do maintenance in the jail so the jail personnel can do what they're supposed to do with the inmates." Read More. |
