| Youngstown prisoners’ complaints demand an outside investigation |

Prisoners in the fourth week of a hunger strike in the isolated super-max cells of Ohio State Penitentiary should get a hearing. Their complaints about a recent crackdown on education, recreation, and other programs need outside, independent investigation. By all accounts, Ohio State Penitentiary Warden Jay Forshey refuses to negotiate with the hunger strikers. DRC won’t allow in-prison media interviews with Siddique Hasan, the hunger striker who has been talking to me by phone. I was scheduled to talk to Hasan on Tuesday night, but learned his phone privileges had been revoked for at least a day.
