| Alabama would close prison, relocate 2,000 inmates if budget is cut 3 percent |

Department of Corrections Commissioner Jefferson Dunn told legislators today the state would close one prison and one work center, forcing the relocation of 2,000 inmates, if the agency's budget is cut by 3 percent. Dunn spoke to lawmakers at a hearing on the state budget for 2016. State Health Officer Don Williamson gave legislators a grim look at what budget cuts would mean for the Alabama Medicaid Agency.
