| Accused Racine robber Jesus Arroyo dies in jail |

DODGE COUNTY — A Racine man suspected of numerous armed robberies, who escaped custody and spent more than 11 hours on the lam last June, has died in jail, officials confirmed Friday. The inmate, Jesus G. Arroyo, 37, died in what is presumed to be suicide on March 21 in the Dodge County Detention Facility, according to Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt. He noted that the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet officially classified the death as a suicide. Held in the Dodge County jail as a prisoner of both the Department of Corrections and the U.S. Marshals Service, Arroyo was facing robbery charges in multiple municipalities and awaiting sentencing for a felony charge in Racine County.
