St. Ann can avoid bad press with better training of corrections officers

Normally when I write a letter to the editor, it's to stand up for the city of St. Ann, its police department and officers who in my opinion are being wrongly judged for enforcing the laws in our city due to people wanting to break the law, but not wanting to deal with the consequences of breaking the law.

Imagine my surprise and irritation when I opened the paper to find a story about Jemayle Johnson tricking a St. Ann corrections officer into releasing him by identifying himself as the inmate that was to be released. People are human, we all make mistakes, but please examine the steps followed for releasing prisoners and update it as necessary as something isn't working for something like this to be able to happen.

I don't know how long this corrections officer has been on the job, but if he or she is new at it, please send him or her back for more training.
