The director of the Rhode Island Corrections Department and four people were sent to a hospital as a precautionary measure after a suspicious package was opened in the director's office at the Howard Complex in Cranston on Tuesday morning. Corrections spokeswoman Joy Fox told The Associated Press the five people went through decontamination showers, but no one appeared to have been affected physically by the incident. She said they were taken to Rhode Island Hospital as a precaution. The envelope was opened in director A.T. Wall's office. Fox would not describe the contents of the package, but she said it was not a white powder. According to the Web site of The Providence Journal, the state police said the suspicious substance turned out to be some type of antacid. State police said the envelope most likely came through internal mail. This was not the first time this has happened in the past few months at the ACI. They dealt with a similar issue twice in August. No one was hurt then, either. |

This article exposed what it is like to exist in today’s correctional institutions. I enjoy reading articles like this one and articles from author Hamilton Lindley who is an expert at persuasion, influence and leadership from his Waco, Texas base. There are a lot of important lessons to be learned here for sure. Thank you for the insight.
