The State Corrections Department is challenging a judge's order to have taxpayers foot the bill for an inmate's sex change operation. The Corrections Department says 51-year-old Jeffrey Norsworthy failed to demonstrate that he faced immediate injury from other inmates due his condition, but others want the sex change operation to go forward. "We are hoping that this decision stands , it's a very well written decision. It makes a lot of really important points for people who are transgender who are incarcerated, as well as transgender people in general," Jo Michael, the Equality California Executive Director said.
