LEXINGTON — The grandfather of a toddler whose 1995 death sparked major changes to state child abuse laws has died in prison, according to the Oklahoma Corrections Department. Don Luke, a former newspaper editor in McAlester, was convicted of second-degree manslaughter in the death of his grandson, Ryan Luke, 2. The boy’s mother, Wendy Luke, served 9 1/2years for manslaughter. Ryan’s death led to the Ryan Luke Law, which provided sweeping changes in the way courts and the Department of Human Services handle child abuse cases. Read More. |
