Two Mercer County inmates at Bo Robinson fail drug tests this month

TRENTON >> Drugs are still making their way to Mercer County inmates, even though they are segregated from the rest of the prison population at Bo Robinson.

According to statistics provided by Mercer County, a random drug test conducted this month of 32 inmates at the Trenton halfway house resulted in two inmates to test positive for marijuana while another one refused to provide a urine sample. Due to the results of the county’s lone drug test this year on the inmates it contracts to the privately run facility, all three were returned to Mercer County Correction Center, spokeswoman Julie Wilmot said in an email.

“If the demand is high enough, people are willing to break the law to do things,” Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes said last week when asked about the recent reported issues at the site. “But from my sense that I get from my warden and my professionals is that our segregated community within Bo are getting the services that we’re paying for.”
