DANVILLE — The Montour County Jail recently began housing some of Northumberland County’s prisoners because of a fire that destroyed Northumberland’s prison in January. Prison Warden Jerry Cutchall said some prisoners have been dropped off at the Montour County facility on a temporary basis. “Business has picked up quite a bit,” he said of the additional inmates at Monday’s prison board meeting. As of Monday, there were six Northumberland County prisoners at the Montour jail. Montour County gets $60 per day to house each Northumberland County inmate. If this would continue with five inmates per day, as an example, the county would receive $300 per day or $10,950 in a year, he said. Read More. |
