The State of Arizona is behind hundreds of thousands of dollars on payments to Pima County to pay for housing state inmates.

Pima County said if it doesn't get the almost $700,000 it's owed by May 1st, it's prepared to take legal action.

The county estimates the total costs for these services to the state will exceed $1 million for this fiscal year.
