An Oklahoma inmate has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a James Crabtree Correctional Center inmate. Kenneth Edward Tate Jr., 50, was charged Friday in Alfalfa County District Court. Tate’s charge comes more than a year after Timothy Dunivan, 61, was found dead at the Helena facility on the morning of March 29, 2014. According to an affidavit filed Friday, Dunivan was discovered on the floor of his cell “with a long piece of metal protruding from his right eye.” Tate allegedly confessed — prior to the arrival of Oklahoma Department of Corrections investigators — to killing Dunivan “because Dunivan sexually assaulted him,” according to the affidavit.
