| Sheriff: New jail ‘on the horizon’ |

NEW BALTIMORE — The New Baltimore Town Board and residents were given an overview of a plan for a new Greene County Jail at the board’s recent meeting. The discussion was part of a presentation by Greene County Sheriff Greg Seeley on the department’s annual record of service and commitment to the county’s towns, and in this particular instance, New Baltimore. During that presentation, Seeley — who is a strong proponent of a new jail and is on the county legislature’s Greene County Jail Task Force — told those present that the while the official release of the task force’s findings would probably not be out until June, there were some facts he could share with them. Seeley said the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision has approved giving the county 50-plus acres from its property in Coxsackie. Read More. |
