| Ex-prison employee appeals prison sentence |

YORK – Michael Weichman, 47, of Bradshaw has already appealed his 1-2-year prison sentence, which was handed down Monday. His attorney, Mark Porto, filed the intent to appeal with the York County District Court shortly after Weichman was taken to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. Weichman was arrested last May by the Nebraska State Patrol, after it was determined that he had been having sexual relations with an inmate at the Nebraska Center for Women where he was employed. The 38-year-old inmate had been assigned to do maintenance work while serving a substantial sentence for child abuse resulting in death. Weichman was a facility maintenance specialist at the York prison – he began his employment there as a corporal in 2003 and was promoted to the most recent position in 2008. Read More. |
