| New York City jails see ‘significant’ rise in violence |

Violent incidents in the city’s jails have increased despite reforms enacted by the de Blasio administration, according to figures released Wednesday by a Queens lawmaker. City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, who heads the committee overseeing the Correction Department, said the number of assaults on jail staffers increased from 240 between October and December 2014 to 263 between January and March 2015.
