Wyoming Inmate Slater dies in Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution

Torrington – Donald Eugene Slater, a Wyoming inmate, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington, Wyoming, after a lengthy illness.

Slater was originally sentenced on January 9, 1984 by Lincoln County District Court Judge John Troughton. He was serving consecutive sentences (one after the other) of 10 years to life for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder out of Lincoln County, and a subsequent 3-5 years for Escape from an Official Detention for Conviction/Felony out of Laramie County.

Slater was born on April 4, 1960 in Rawlins, Wyoming.

As per departmental policy an autopsy has been ordered.
