| State audit finds Nebraska corrections system lacking in tracking of medications |

LINCOLN — A preliminary audit report on the state corrections system rapped the agency for having lax controls over prescription drugs, its inmate canteens and expenses related to electronic monitoring. State Auditor Charlie Janssen, in a letter to the department, said he issued the preliminary audit because of the “significance and the urgent need for corrective action” on some of the findings. Janssen said that the preliminary audit uncovered some accountability concerns from the past but that new Corrections Director Scott Frakes was very cooperative in seeking to resolve them.
