| New head of Michigan corrections union sees hope |

LANSING (AP) -- The new leader of the Michigan correction officers' union says state prisons are still in "crisis mode," but he sees signs of hope. The Lansing State Journal reports that Andy Potter sees those signs in recruitment efforts that are tackling an officer shortage. Also, problems with the state's privatized prison food services seem to have calmed. The 48-year-old recently became the leader of the Michigan Corrections Organization. It is the second-largest state-worker union with more than 6,000 members. Read More. |
