| Contraband sweep at Northampton County Prison prompts internal investigation |

Pennsylvania corrections officials uncovered suspected drugs in two cells and a staff locker during a sweep of Northampton County Prison, prompting an internal investigation at the 144-year-old facility. Seventy-nine officers from three state prisons searched every cell and strip-searched approximately 700 inmates over six and a half hours, according to county officials. While no cellphones were located, trained dogs found suspected drugs in the two cells and the locker, Director of Corrections Daniel Keen said at a news conference afterward. He declined to provide any details about the drugs or the amount found.
