| Corrections Officer Kills Man During Attempted Robbery in Queens |

An armed man who demanded that a group of five riders hand over the keys to their motorcycles died on Saturday after being shot in the head by one in the group, an off-duty state corrections officer, according to the police. The confrontation took place outside a members-only motorcycle club, N.W.O. Clubhouse, in a relatively deserted part of Ozone Park, Queens. Officers responding to a reported robbery around 10:30 p.m. at 82-10 Rockaway Boulevard found the unconscious man with a gunshot wound to the head, the police said. The man was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The police said the man was 26 years old and had been arrested more than 50 times. The police had not released his identity as of Sunday night because they were still trying to notify his family. Neighbors said that the motorcycles at the club could be loud and annoying at times, and that they sometimes heard boisterous activity brought on by heavy drinking and engines rumbling late into the night.
