| New RJA director says jail system has lots of strengths |

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Although leadership with the state Regional Jail Authority has changed, the challenges have not. David Farmer was recently named executive director of the Regional Jail Authority replacing former executive director Joe Delong. Farmer has been with the agency for many years and is no stranger to the difficult situation it is in. “At the end of the day we can never forget the business we are in. We are in the business of public safety,” Farmer told MetroNews. “When I say public safety, that’s the inmates, the employees, and the public out there.” Farmer said that will always be his highest priority. The secondary issues facing the system however are steep and mounting. There is the issue of manpower and understaffing which has stretched the existing workforce then. Read More. |
