Former jailer sentenced for sex with inmate

A former George County, Miss., correctional officer has been sentenced to two years probation for having sex with an inmate.
Holly Jolene Ray, 30, was working as a correctional officer at the George County Regional Correctional Facility when she was arrested in August 2003.
Ray entered a guilty plea Thursday to the felony charge and admitted in court to having sexual relations with inmate Jonathan Gordon, who was in jail awaiting trial for capital murder.
Assistant district attorney Tim Jones recommended a sentence of two years non-adjudicated probation, which means if Ray successfully completes the two years without a violation there will be no permanent record of the conviction.
"I think this recommendation under these facts is appropriate," Jones said.
In addition to the two-year sentence, Judge Dale Harkey ordered Ray to serve 100 hours of community service.
