Two Bronx men pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the shooting of a prison inmate on work release. Juan Alcantara and William Breiten admitted they broke into the Middletown apartment where 24-year-old Roland Jackson was living on Aug. 10. During the burglary, Alcantara said he shot Jackson. Jackson served time for a drug conviction at Fishkill Correctional Facility but was released in March to finish the sentence on work release. He was staying with his girlfriend and her 6-year-old son, who were present at the time of the shooting but unharmed. As part of the plea deal, Alcantara faces a sentence of 22 years to life in prison and Breiten faces 20 years to life. |
