| FBI opens Dannemora probe as post-manhunt investigations widen |

Jun 30, 2015 — The FBI has opened a probe into operations at Clinton Correctional Facility in the wake of this month’s inmate escape. Law enforcement sources confirmed to NPR that a preliminary Federal investigation is underway looking at possible corruption, drug trafficking, and other contraband schemes at the prison. There are now at least three separate investigations underway probing Clinton-Dannemora, in addition to criminal prosecution of two employees at the prison. When Governor Andrew Cuomo took the stage at Titus Mountain Sunday night, it was a moment of celebration. Richard Matt and David Sweat were no longer on the run.
