| Van Slyke says jail only in Coxsackie, no emergency center |

NEW BALTIMORE —Greene County Legislator Jim Van Slyke, a Democrat from New Baltimore, said he fully supports the plan for a new county jail in Coxsackie, but he opposes relocation of the county’s emergency center from Cairo to Coxsackie. Van Slyke, who is on the county’s task force for the jail project, told New Baltimore constituents at the town’s recent board meeting that the full name of the complex is the Greene County Public Safety Facilities, but stressed he does not think the name properly identifies the purpose. “We’re building a jail,” he said, noting that some parties wish to do more. “They want to move 911 and the sheriff,” Van Slyke said, adding that such a move is something he will not support.
