| Escapee Sweat sent to Five Points in Romulus |

ROMULUS — One of the escapees whose prison break made national news last month is now being held at Five Points Correctional Facility. David Sweat was transferred to the Seneca County maximum security facility from the Albany Medical Center early Sunday morning, the state Department of Corrections said in a press release. “I’m just glad that he was captured, and I have all the confidence in the world in the facility at Five Points,” said Don Earle, chairman of the Seneca County Board of Supervisors. “That’s a new facility, so there’s not as many possibilities, I wouldn’t think, as where he was at.” Sweat and Richard Matt escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora June 6. Both had been serving time there for murder. Police shot and killed Matt during the 23-day manhunt that followed the escape. Sweat was shot and taken into custody two days later, on June 28.
