LITTLE ROCK — A corrections officer was treated and released at a Little Rock hospital after being attacked Monday at the Varner Supermax unit in Gould, the state Department of Correction said. Cynthia Reed, 56, was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences after the 8:26 a.m. incident. Officers who responded to cries for help found Reed on the floor with what appeared to be two puncture wounds, the agency said in a news release. Inmate Christopher Brewer, 34, is suspected of attacking Reed with a metal rod, the agency said. The incident is under investigation. Read More. |
