The Arizona Department of Corrections has postponed by two months the application deadline for bidders to run a new private prison, citing the need to focus on recent riots at a private prison near Kingman. The deadline was extended to Sept. 22. The state wants to outsource 1,000 more medium-security beds this fiscal year. Doug Ducey has called for an investigation of what occurred. Inmates at the private prison, operated by Management & Training Corp., rioted around the July 4 holiday.
