EUREKA, Calif. - The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors gave the go ahead for a study to be done regarding an expansion of the Humboldt County Correctional Facility that would add a Community Corrections Re-entry Resource Center. The center would be used to help inmates at the jail get back into the community after their time behind bars. Staff from the probation department and the Department of Health and Human Services would also be housed in the add-on in order provide the inmates with whatever services they need. There would be no need to transport the inmates to various locations around Eureka, as the center will serve as a one-stop shop. The corrections center would take up half of the gravel lot that is next to the jail. Currently, the lot is being used as temporary parking. Read More. |
