ROCK HILL An escaped inmate who walked away from work release last week and eluded authorities despite a manhunt is in custody, South Carolina prison officials said. Bobby Albert Camp III, 25, has been apprehended, said Stephanie Givens, a spokesperson for the S.C. Department of Corrections. Camp is in the Greenville County jail but details of Camp’s capture are not yet available. Camp walked away July 7 and had not been seen since. Police in both Carolinas were searching for him, and a SWAT situation July 9 at a Rock Hill home after officials thought Camp might be there turned up nothing. Camp is serving a seven-year sentence for robbery. It is his second prison stretch for robbery after serving time while a teen. Camp was working at Rock Hill’s B & B Tire when he escaped.
